Although WAB receives a grant to provide services on behalf of the Local Authority, it relies extensively on donations and legacies to help it offer the full range of services so needed by blind and partially sighted people.
Financial support through legacies is vital to WAB to maintain our many free services and develop new ones. Furthermore with more people living longer, more people will experience sight loss and need our services.
By being kind enough to support our work through a legacy in your will you will influence the quality of life of future generations of children and adults in Warwickshire. Please accept our thanks on their behalf.
To make a will or change an existing will, make an appointment with your solicitor. If you do not have a solicitor, WAB will advise you of solicitors in your area including those who make home visit appointments.
If you are making your first will.
There are four ways you can help WAB -
1 The gift of a specific sum of money, known as a Pecuniary Legacy
2 The gift of the remainder of your estate once all your other wishes have been satisfied and expenses paid. This is a residual legacy
3 The gift of an item such as a piece of jewellery or an antique. This is a Specific Bequest .
4 A gift which would be made if someone you intended to benefit dies before you. This is called a Conditional Bequest.
You can change an existing will, quickly and easily, with the help of a solicitor to include a new beneficiary such as a grandchild or charity. This is known as adding a Codicil.
Further details and a Pro Forma form are included in a leaflet which you get from the WAB office
