This is your website. Check all the boxes and follow the links to see the wide range of activities WAB promotes. Please fill in the contact form to make suggestions for additions and improvements.
WAB Website is complementary to WAB Mag which is distributed at no cost to members. This year we are producing a commemmorative issue to celebrate our centenary. Audio listeners will receive a copy on a memory stick to keep as a memento. Please encourage your friends to get membership and consider making a donation or leaving a bequest.
Many people have put in a lot of work for WAB over many years, for this they have been made life members.
From time to time holidays are organised for WAB members contact the office for details.
A message from Peter Soles - your Chairman.
I am writing this article to thank all Volunteers for the splendid contribution you make to WAB by giving your time. On the 2nd June 2011 WAB celebrated its Centenary. The first meeting of the Association was held at the Royal Leamington Spa Town Hall on Thursday 2nd June 1911.The Chairman and therefore the first Volunteer was Lord Algernon Percy who lived at Guys Cliffe, Warwick. He and his committee obviously laid firm foundations and I am sure they would approve of WAB as it is formatted today.
We are privileged to have a large number of very dedicated volunteers and without your help we could not function and provide the help and assistance that is offered to the visually impaired people of Warwickshire.
Your assistance enables the 16 shortly to become 17 Clubs to be held. The reader / visitor service is operated entirely by volunteers, as is the De Montfort Talking Books Service. Indeed this Service was saved from closure by the volunteers at Kenilworth Library.
We also have the assistance of volunteers who prepare mails shots, saving many hours of Staff time. The WabMag is compiled and published by two very dedicated volunteers, who incidentally would welcome the offer of assistance, if you wish to be involved.
I must also thank the small team of volunteers who do the street and store collections. Many more volunteers are needed to assist with these collections and any assistance offered would be appreciated.
I thank the Board of Directors/Trustees who are also volunteers and give many hours of dedicated assistance.
I am sure we all derive pleasure from helping our Service Users and the Association hopes for your continued assistance. I reiterate, Thank You
