The Leamington Spa and District VI Computer Club

The V I Computer Club is a local self help focus group of visually impaired people who are interested in modern technical aids to help overcome their sight problems.

Such aids as computers, screen readers, dictation software, CCTV magnifiers, telephones with Talks, accessing newspapers magazines books from the internet, accessing all media from the internet and OCR scanners.

Our aim is to help each other with accessing this modern digital world of information, knowledge, and assistance.

With the VI Computer Club the local visually impaired community has a focus group to help each other and assist all those interested in modern technology. We encourage VI people that modern technology can be a useful tool in overcoming a sight disability.

We have the support of the local UK on Line Centres, Warwickshire Library Service, RNIB, and the Warwickshire Association for the Blind.

We also have a close association with the Lillington UK on Line Centre, which provides more advanced assistance to VI’s who can get to the Centre. At the Centre we have access to 4 advanced computers running the Jaws screen reader, and the assistance of a trainer.

We are pleased to help all visually impaired with their computer problems, we especially help the retired and more elderly members of the community.

Contacts are usually made via the phone or email. There is the Warwickshire Association for the Blind News Letter, Libraries, the local Blind Rehabilitation Service, and the local Blind Talking Newspaper Service.  We also have occasional meetings at the Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa. 

The Youth Centre is behind the Community Centre and has a bus stop immediately outside with regular services from Leamington.
