Volunteer Role Descriptions

Home Visitor/Reader Volunteers are required to visit visually impaired people who are living on their own or in a retirement home.
Duties may include: Reading their correspondence or newspaper to them, a game of cards, or simply just having a chat and a cup of tea.
If you have a caring and patient nature and are willing to listen and have a couple of hours to spare either weekly or fortnightly then you could make a difference and brighten up their day so they don’t feel so isolated.

Club Volunteers are required to help out at our social groups that meet on a regular basis all around the county.  Duties that you could become involved in range from helping to set up the room up by arranging tables and chairs. Welcoming the members, helping to serve the tea and coffee and having a chat to everyone. This is sometimes the only opportunity they have of getting out and meeting other people in the same situation as themselves. The clubs are run and organised by a group of volunteers with support from the Community Development Officer.

Driver Volunteers to help take our members to and from the various clubs and meetings around the county. If you have your own car and a clean license we would like to hear from you. Expenses can be met so you are not out of pocket. The work would be in the area local to you.

Office Volunteers are required at our new Warwick office to help with some general office duties including typing, filing, photocopying and extra help is always needed with our large mailing list. If you have some office experience or would like to gain some we would like to hear from you.

Fundraising Volunteers are required to help with our store and street collections and general fundraising activities. If you can spare a couple of hours when we are in your area it would be a real help to the charity and benefit so many visually impaired people in the county.

Drop-in Centres need volunteers to help set up by arranging tables and chairs, greet people on arrival and help with the tea and coffee. The four centres are staffed by a Community Worker that you would be working with. The centres are in Rugby, Nuneaton, Leamington Spa and Stratford upon Avon, Atherstone and Coleshill.
